A little history about the Logan Circle neighborhood
During the Civil War this area of Washington DC was home to Camp Barker, a former barracks that was transformed into a refugee camp. In the 1870 the Logan Circle area began to form with streets, elm trees, and other amenities were installed under Mayor Alexander Robey Shepherd. He encouraged the development of this area the next thing that happened was the installation of street car tracks. Then the blocks of Victorian row homes began to be built.
