New Montgomery County Real Estate Development

There will be new Montgomery County Maryland real estate being developed between Gaithersburg and Rockville.  On Tuesday May 4th the Montgomery Council unanimously approved a master plan for the Great Seneca Science Corridor.  This Commercial Maryland real estate is currently planned to be 17.5 million square feet of research space. The development had been scaled back from its original proposal of 20 million square feet.  It is predicted that this new development will provide more job opportunities for people who live in the area.

Once completed, this new Montgomery County Maryland real estate development will transform 6.9 million square feet into the Shady Grove Life Sciences Center which will include housing and shops.  Currently this Montogmery County real estate already includes the Universities at Shady Grove and a campus of Johns Hopkins University, as well as biotech businesses.  One of the plans that Hopkins has for the development is to expand the development to the 107 acre Belward Farm.  The university had purchased this property in 1989 in an agreement that this land would be used for agricultural, academic, medical care and research or similar uses.  An interesting fact to note about this new development is in order to avoid congestion on the roads, there will be a mass transit line put in that would connect Shady Grove and Clarksburg before the second phase of this development is completed.  This mass transit line will run 14.1 miles.
