Building Montgomery County Maryland Real Estate

Are you thinking of building a home in Montgomery County, or are you considering adding an addition to your Montgomery county real estate, if so you should know that May is Building Safety Month.  Each week in the month of May a different subject will be addressed with different communities throughout Montgomery County. Some topics that will be addressed include the promotion of Green Buildings Disaster Safety and Mitigation, Fire Safety and Awareness, and Backyard safety.  The main theme for this year is Building Safety.

Whether adding an addition or building a home from scratch, it is very important to take into consideration the building safety and fire prevention codes, which include the actions of checking the structural soundness of the development, the reliability of fire prevention and suppression systems (i.e. sprinkler systems), mechanical systems, as well as energy efficiency and sustainability.  In order to make sure that both the builders as well as the people who will be living or working in this real estate are safe, the active participation of building safety and fire prevention officials, architects, builders, engineers, and all others in the construction industry is required.

An interesting fact to note if you are a homeowner in Montgomery County during this Building Safety Month is that the Department of Permitting Services will be offering free deck maintenance inspections for single family detached homes, duplexes, as well as townhomes.  As of now the only homes that will not be receiving this free inspection are homes located in the City of Rockville and Gaithersburg.  If you are interested in having your deck looked at please contact the Department of Permitting Services in May.
