Residents of Montgomery County Real Estate Pitch in

Whether you live in a home in Montgomery County, are looking to purchase a Montgomery County home, or just want to get involved in helping making Montgomery County more environmentally friendly, than please read on.  County Executive Isiah Leggett has announced that the month of April will be considered Earth month, and he is encouraging county residents to join in.  The projects that will be going on during earth month will be focusing on improving the environment.  An interesting fact to note about the history of Earth Day is that on April 22nd we will be celebrating the 40th anniversary of the first time that Earth Day was ever celebrated.  The goal that Legett has for extending Earth day to a month is that he hopes residents of the county will try hard throughout the whole month to help improve the environment.

If you do own Montgomery County Maryland real estate and want to get involved in helping your county become environmentally friendly, there are many ways to get involved.  As of today there are roughly 24 projects going on throughout Earth Month.  These projects include:

  • Invasive Weed Removal in Chevy Chase
  • 22nd Annual Potomac River Watershed Cleanup
  • Invasive Plant Removal at Brookside Nature Center
  • Invasive Plant Removal along the Capital Crescent Trail
  • Tree planting and soil preparation
  • Garlic mustard Challenge along the underground Trail at Woodlawn Manor
  • Invasive plant removal at Little Falls Stream Valley Park
  • Sweep the Creek
  • Potomac River Watershed Cleanup
  • 2010 Rock Creek Extreme Cleanup
  • Clean up the Patuxent
  • Gaithersburg Green Week
  • Beautify Rock View Elementary School
  • Brookside Gardens Earth Day Volunteer
  • Volunteers needed for gardening at the men’s homeless shelter in Rockville
