Renovation of Historical Maryland Real Estate

The Maryland State House which is located in Annapolis will be going through renovation.  Currently the Maryland state House is the oldest state house that is still in active use by the government.  This is the first major renovation that this piece of Maryland real estate has seen in over 100 years.  Currently the renovation of the State House is estimated to roughly cost $8.4 million.  This renovation calls for a updating of the plumbing system, revamping visitor meeting space, the old Senate Chamber being restored, and the old House of Delegates Chamber will be rebuilt.  This will be done by removing the wall that separates the Calvert and The Maryland Silver Room on the main floor of this historical site.

If you are a history buff and considering purchasing Maryland homes here are some interesting facts about this State House.  The first piece of interesting information that you should make note of is in 1960 this building was deemed a national historic landmark.  People who lived in Annapolis from November 26th, 1783 to June 3rd, 1784 were considered to be in the United States Capital.  The reason for this is that prior to the District of Columbia being constructed, Annapolis was a candidate to be the Nations Capital.

The state House was originally designed by Joseph Huratio Anderson.  Anderson was a famous architect of the time.  A very interesting fact about the construction of the state house deals with its lightning rod.  The original Lightning rod that sat on the top of the dome was designed  and grounded to match the specifications of the inventor of the lightning rod, Benjamin Franklin.
