On October 15, 2007 the City Council and Mayor of Gaithersburg MD approved a law created to ensure that any new or rehabilitation construction projects adhere to strict green standards. An amendment to Chapter 5 of the City Buildings Code, the law provides mandatory guidelines for energy usage/performance, living environments, and waste management/recycling.
