Over the past years there have been talks about the construction of a purple metro line, with a Chevy Chase Maryland stop. If the purple line was constructed, it would connect Bethesda to New Carrollton going through Silver Spring, otherwise the trip would be a 16 mile hike thru rapid bus or light rail. With this plan for the purple line there is a stop in Chevy Chase along the Capital Crescent Trail.
