Residents of the Montgomery County MD, real estate found in Silver Spring, should know that this area is very involved in becoming more green friendly and environmentally conscious.  Currently there has been work going on a new Silver Spring, Maryland real estate development known as the Paul S. Sarbanes Transit Center project.  At this Montgomery County Maryland, real estate you will find Metrorail, Metrobus, Ride on, MARC and an inter-city bus service all in one location.  This new transit center will be located where the current Ride On and Metrorail Bus operations are.  The total land needed for this new Silver Spring MD, real estate project is 5.7 Acres.  Of these 5.7 acres 1.9 Acres are owned by the County, the remainder is owned by the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority.  Currently there are plans to integrate private development into the design of this transit center.  It is predicted that this new transit center will add 170 new Montgomery County homes to the already growing Silver Spring, Maryland real estate Market.  There are also plans to add a 200 room hotel and there will be 250,000 Square feet of Commercial office space that will be available when this new Transit Center is completed.   As of now it is predicted that the Paul S. Sarbanes Transit Center Project will be completed in roughly two years.

The Silver Spring Metro Station is currently serving roughly 57,000 people on a daily basis, and it is predicted that by 2020 this number will jump up to 97,000 people daily.  It is also predicted that the addition of the Paul S. Sarbanes Transit Center will increase pedestrian circulation, safety, and at the same time it will create a nice environment.  Currently the Transit Center will include a public walkway, green parks, plazas, and customer conveniences.   Another interesting fact to note about the Paul S. Sarbanes Transit Center is that as of now the plans for this new transit center include access to the future purple line that will be developed.

The Current design for the Paul S. Sarbanes Transit Center will feature bus access on two different levels, you can access the upper level from Ramsey Avenue, and Access to the lower level will be granted from Colesville Road.  The third level of the new Transit Center will be home to the Metro rails kiss and ride parking lot.  You will be able to gain access to this lot from Bonifant Avenue.  The upper level is where commuters will find the Taxi stand, and Short Term Parking lots.  There are also plans for a new traffic light to be installed on Colesville Road, and Wayne and Dixon Avenues to aid in the access to Transit Center.
