Home seekers of Montgomery County real estate, probably that this county is considered one of the largest biotechnology clusters in the United States.  Biotechnology research is done here through places like John Hopkins University on the Montgomery County Campus, Howard Hughes Medical institute, the National institute of health, and the University of Maryland.  The National Institute of Health, the Food and Drug administration, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Nuclear Regulatory Commission, and United States Department of Energy and National Institute of Standard Technology all call Montgomery County home.   OpGen Technologies has just purchased a 15,000 Square foot piece of Montgomery County MD real estate in Gaithersburg Maryland.  This piece of Montgomery County Maryland real estate is going to be used as the company's headquarters.  The decision by this company to relocate here came after Legett's current organization of a Montgomery County BioScience Task Force.  The task force is comprised of a group of private sector biotechnology leaders.  This establishment was put into effect to help the county decide what will be the in the best interest for this growing industry.

Opgen Technology Inc. is known as an industry leader in single molecule DNA analysis, they are a leader in microbial genome optical mapping technology.  Opgen Technologies was originally located in Madison Wisconsin before moving here.  It is believed that some of the reasons for this move was to take advantage of the highly educated work force that is found in these counties boundaries, and due to the presence of the federal agencies and there labs.  Another factor that aided in there decision was the momentous success that this county has had in the past dealing with business development efforts.   Currently OpGen has already hired 15 new employees, and it is predicted to grow to over 100 employees in the next 2 years.

Currently The Business and Economic Development  DBED0 Secretary David W. Edgerley said that OpGen will be offered a $200,000 state loan.  20% of this loan or $20,000 will be matched by Montgomery County in order to assist in setting up the new headquarters for  OpGen Technologies Inc.

A little about OpGen Technologies Inc.
* There Genome Mapping System is used by academic, commercial and federal entities nationally and internationally.
