New Washington DC Real Estate The Washington DC subdivision known as Columbia Heights is going through a rebirth. Currently the first Target in Washington DC opened on March 5th, 2008 in Columbia Heights. This new Development is located at 14th street and Park Road in the Northwest quadrant of Washington DC. This new development, anchored by the first Target store in the District, is going to cost roughly a billion dollars. Over the past several years, this neighborhood has undergone a major transformation with the addition of new luxury residential real estate, stores, and restaurants being completed. One of the many reasons for the redevelopment of Columbia Heights is to keep Washingtonians money within the Washington DC city’s boundaries.
The New Columbia Heights Subdivision Includes:
- Allegro
- This is a 297 unit apartment complex that was constructed where the old Giant Supermarket stood.
- Dance Institute of Washington
- This is a new dance facility that has three state of the art dance studios, and classrooms.
- Kenyon Square
- Is a mixed use development with 153 residential real estate units for purchase. On the ground floor this development will have Starbucks, BB&T bank, Georgetown Valet, Radiance Medspa, D’Vines wine and beer, Royal Blue Mediterranean Bistro, FedEx Kinko’s, and the Heights restaurant.
- DC USA
- Is a 500,000 square foot retail center that is home to Target, Bed Bath & Beyond, Mattress Discounters, Marshalls, best Buy, RadioShack, Staples, Washington Sports Club, Payless ShoeSource, Lane Bryant, The Children’s Place. This development will also include a Vitamin shop, Quiznos, Panda Express, and Desi’s Chicken and Streak.
- Lofts of Columbia Heights
- Was completed in 2006 and is a 56 unit condominium building that features affordable housing accommodations.
- Highland Park
- A new 235 unit apartment complex with affordable living accommodations. The Ground floor of this development is a retail development that is home to Sake Club, Commonwealth, Potbelly Sandwich Works, Five Guys, Pete’s Apizza and Zinnia.
- Victory Heights
- A senior housing development composed of 75 units.
- Park Triangle
- A six story 117 unit apartment complex, with ground retail that includes Citibank, Rita’s Water Ice, AT & T, and Pollo Campero.
- Tivoll Square
- Is a newly renovated theater that now includes Rumberos, Ruby Tuesday, Mayorga coffee, Gala Theater, Nash’s Sports, Wachovia bank, UPS store, Kudo Beans, Cinnabon, and a Carvel. This development will also include 32 row homes and a Giant Supermarket.
Currently this neighborhood within the District is one of the most diverse neighborhoods. According to city officials this redevelopment should have a positive effect on the whole District because of the additional shopping and jobs that will be created due to this great development.
