In the and around the town of Poolesville owners and renters of homes in Montgomery County are in for a nice surprise. The Poolesville Park Board has recommended design renovation for the parks.  The Park Board has recommended developing a skate Park to be put in the Montgomery county MD real estate owned by the city.  The addition of this skate park has been in the works for around 3 years.  The skate park will be 6,300 square feet and this Montgomery County Maryland real estate, will be composed of concrete and will include stairs, ledges, handrails, a bank-to-block, half pipe, open bowl and street clam bowl.  As of now the Park has set aside a 10,000 square foot section on Wootton Avenue of the 3.77 acre parcel of land that the town owns. The skate park is not the only addition that the Park Board has in mind for the Montgomery County real estate owned by the town, but there are also recommendations for a band shell amphitheatre at Whalen Commons.

Currently Artisan Skateparks in Kitty Hawk N.C. have been chosen to design the skate Park.  The plan that they submitted was favored by the skateboarding youths.  Artican Skateparks was chosen out of the four proposals that were submitted.  When the board voted on the skate park on August 5th the standing was a 3 to 0 vote in favor of recommending the design to the commissioners.  Currently the commissioners will be reviewing these plans on August 17th at Town Hall. Artisan Skateparks has a reputation of building parks in North Carolina, Virginia and they also just completed a skate park in Ocean Pines MD.

As for the new amphitheatre, over the last several months the Park Board has looked over many different design options.  The Park Board has made some cosmetic design changes to the plans that were presented.  Currently the plan for this amphitheatre is to have it located near the  Park on Fisher Avenue.  Also according to the design plan the amphitheatre will be designed to compliment the New Town Hall in Poolesville.  This amphitheatre will be composed of brick and stucco; there will be two single stall bathrooms, a gable, and both a ramp and stairs leading up to the stage.  The amphitheatre will not only house musical events, but there will also be certain movie screenings that you will be able to watch here.  As of now the projected cost for this project is roughly $175,000, and there has already been a grant from the Maryland Heritage Area Authority for $100,000.  Construction on this project is planned to begin in November and should be completed in two months.  So as you can see the town of Poolesville has many new developments in the planning stages.  Please check back soon to see more updates.
