How to get there:

Columbia is approximately half way between Washington DC and Baltimore.  Located in Howard County, it makes for an easy commute to either city.  The most direct route is via 95 South from Baltimore or 95 North from the Washington Capitol Beltway (495).

Family and children have always received a great deal of attention in this city.  The public school system itself consists of eight high, five middle, and fourteen elementary schools.  In addition, the city has 30 day care centers and over 145 park and play areas.  There are also two public libraries that serve the needs of this cities residence.


This Cities Association

CA, as its residents affectionately call it is registered as a non-profit, community run organization.  It was created to enhance the lives' of the cities residents by managing a plethora of the city's recreational and Cultural initiatives and facilities.  It is also responsible for maintaining early morning and evening child care programs and camps.


Recreation:

The county provides child and adult athletic leagues, and the city itself contains over 5,000 acres of open space.  There are many parks, playgrounds, walking/jogging/biking trails, pools, tennis courts (both indoor and out), an ice skating facility, an equestrian facility, and a pair of golf courses.  Cleary boredom is not an issue.  Whether you are a hockey player, a bicyclist, a golfer, or even a polo player, you can find something to keep you entertained in this great city.

Merriweather Post Pavilion of Music:

This is a highly acclaimed music venue that frequently features many of the country's most notable performers.  Consisting of a covered amphitheatre with seating and a large grass field for general admission, you can experience concerts to suit your preferences.
